(Chicago, IL) -- Friends are family are mourning the death of Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka. "The Chicago Tribune" reports Topinka passed away early this morning in a Berwyn hospital at the age of 70, due to complications of a stroke. She was the state's first woman treasurer from 1994 to 2007 before being elected comptroller in 2010. Topinka also was reelected as the comptroller on November 4 of this year, beating out her opponent, current Lt. Governor Sheila Simon.
