Roll Over Accident Near Farmington Injures Driver
(Farmington, IL) -- A one vehicle accident Thursday morning resulted in a tractor-trailer rolling over just west of Farmington on Illinois Route 116. Illinois State Police say they accident happened yesterday morning at about 5:30 when a tractor-trailer driven by 57-year old Richard D. Eaton was eastbound on Route 116 near Fulton County Highway 18. The trailer was loaded with corn. Eaton told authorities that he spotted tow cows that were standing in the astbound lane of traffic. The tractor-trailer then struck the two cows head on, traveling off the right side of the roadway and overturning. The corn was thrown from the trailer into the ditch and a yard of a nearby residence. Eaton suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Graham Hospital in Canton where he was treated and later released. Eaton was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. No charges were issued. Troopers were assisted at the scene by Illinois State Police Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection Unit, Fulton County Sheriff's Office, Farmington Fire and Rescue, Farmington Police Department, Fulton County Ambulance, Ameren and Harmon's Towing.
No One Injured In Monday Bus Accident
(Fulton County, IL) -- No injuries were reported after a two vehicle accident that occurred earlier this week involving a school bus just east of Canton. Fulton County Sheriff's deputies say they investigated the accident that occurred Monday afternoon at just before 3:45 on Breeds Road near Orion School Road. Deputies say that a pickup truck driven by 22-year old Derin Dewitt was southbound on Breeds Road and pulling a trailer and a Canton Union School District 66 bus driven by 70-year old John Green was northbound on Breeds Road. Both vehicles maintained their lanes but the two vehicles did strike each other. Seven students and Green were on the school bus at the time of the accident but no injuries were reported. Deputies say that no citations were issued as a result of the accident.
Peoria Man Found Fit To Stand Trial For Peoria Armed Robberies
(Peoria, IL) -- A Peorian who is already serving time for a robbery and is now facing four additional armed robbery charges has been found fit to stand trial in Peoria County Circuit Court. 36-year old Jerry A. Johnson had been found unfit to stand trial nearly a month ago. He has been accused of holding up the same Marathon gas station in Peoria. The armed robberies occurred in May of this year.
Rantoul Man Gets Twelve Years For Fifth DUI
(Urbana, IL) -- A Rantoul man convicted for his fifth DUI faces a 12 year prison sentence. A Champaign County judge on Thursday called Denny Busboom a "danger to the public." The defendant was recently charged after an April 12 arrest. Busboom was taken into custody after he drove a motorcycle while intoxicated.
