(Canton, IL) -- "Munchkin Masquerade" will be taking place in downtown Canton tonight. Children can trick or treat at participating merchants in the downtown area as well as in Jones Park from 5 until 7 tonight. Children will receive free, safe candy for Halloween during the event. This year's Halloween Celebration will feature the fourth annual Scarecrow Contest. Hot dogs and chips will be for sale and there will be spooky music in Jones Park. New this year will be hay-rack rides around the park and a "Movie in the Park" is being sponsored by the Canton Police Department. The streets immediately bordering Jones Park will be blocked off for the event, helping to insure the safety of children by eliminating through traffic around the square. The event was formerly known as Merchant's Night.
