State Officials Urge Safe Sleep Habits For Babies

(Springfield, IL) -- State officials say one of the leading causes of death in kids under the age of one is accidental sleep suffocation. Nora Harms-Pavelski, with the DCFS, says it usually happens when the baby is in bed with someone else. Officials say it can also be a problem when parents over bundle the baby or leave them sleeping in a car seat for extended periods of time. It's also a good idea to keep stuffed animals, toys, bumper pads, and blankets out of your baby's crib. And, try to make sure the baby's room isn't too hot.
