(Rock Island, IL) -- The District of Rock Island is trying to pick up the pieces after a weekend fire burned down several businesses. The fire broke out just after 4:00 Sunday morning in the 200-block of 18th Street. It took crews several hours to battle the blaze, which impacted a tattoo parlor, a pizza shop, and at least six other businesses. The building once housed the Mississippi Café and was actually slated to be demolished today. No injuries were reported.
