Domestic Disturbance Leads To Canton Mans Arrest
(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing charges after police were dispatched to a domestic disturbance last week in Canton. Police say they were dispatched to the 500 block of East Locust Street on Thursday morning of last week at about 2:40. Upon arrival they heard a female yelling for help and then running out the back door of the residence. Officers say that when they were talking to the victim, a 48-year old Canton female, she told them that when they were knocking on the door that the suspect, 49-year old Dennis K. Acker, was holding her by the waste and keeping her from reporting the incident to police. She eventually was able to get away from Acker. During their investigation, authorities also found that Acker was wanted on a 2012 Peoria County Felony Warrant. He was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. He was charged with unlawful restraint, interference with reporting domestic violence and for the warrant. He was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.
Canton Man Arrested Following Traffic Stop
(Canton, IL) -- A traffic stop in Canton resulted in the arrest of a Canton man on East Elm Street. Police say they responded to the parking lot of First Baptist Church in the 300 block of East Elm Wednesday night at just after 10:30 on the report of a truck squealing its tires in the parking lot. Officers made contact with the male driving the truck, identified as 41-year old Gregory M. Long while he was still in the parking lot. It was determined during their investigation that Long had been drinking. Police conducted several field sobriety tests which Long allegedly failed. He was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed. Officers also found an open bottle of vodka inside the truck. After being taken to the police department, Long was given a breath test which he allegedly failed as well. He was charged with DUI and DUI over .08. Long was unable to post bond and was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.
Canton Man Arrested On Warrant
(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man wanted on an active warrant was arrested over the weekend in Canton. Police say they were doing a routine business check at White Oaks when they found 24-year old Michael J. Pappalardo in the beer garden. Pappalardo was wanted on a 2014 Fulton County Felony Warrant for criminal damage to property. He was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed for the warrant. Pappalardo was unable to post bond and was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.
Peoria Fire Being Investigated As Arson
(Peoria, IL) -- Authorities have one person in custody after a Monday night fire that took place on Peoria's East Bluff. Firefighters from Peoria responded to the blaze at about 9:45 Monday night. The fire was in the 200 block of West McClure Avenue. Authorities say that a a female called 9-1-1 and claimed that she had set fire to her boyfriends clothes. Upon arrival, fire crews found that there were flames coming from the first floor of the two story home. Everyone was able to get out of the home safely. Authorities made one arrest at the scene and police and fire personnel are investigating the matter as an arson.
Davenport Man Charged Following Deadly Crash
(Davenport, IA) -- A Davenport man is being charged following a deadly crash this weekend. "The Quad City Times" reports Robert Aguirre was driving his car on West Locust Street when he turned in the path of a motorcycle driven by Teangelo Garrard. Garrard later died at a Davenport hospital. Police arrested Aguirre on multiple charges including homicide by vehicle and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
Mayor of Pearl, IL facing battery charges
(Pearl, IL) -- The mayor of Pearl, Illinois is facing battery charges. Police say Mayor Timothy Fulmer got into a fight with several women over the weekend. It started on the street outside his home after one woman yelled at another woman for driving too fast. Several people had to be treated at an area hospital after the brawl. Fulmer was arrested but is free on bond.
Man Charged In Connection To Springfield Pipe Bomb
(Springfield, IL) -- Authorities say they've captured the man who planted a pipe bomb in downtown Springfield. Bradford Moss allegedly dropped the bomb in an attempt to blow up an ATM outside of Chase bank on East Washington Street back on July 28th. A bomb squad safely disabled the explosive before it went off so no one was injured. Moss was arrested in Las Vegas and returned to Illinois. He's being held in the Sangamon County Jail.
Pair Of Springfield Attorneys Hired By Murder Suspect
(Quincy, IL) -- A former Quincy School Board president has hired two Springfield.lawyers to defend him in the murder trial of his wife. Curtis Lovelace will be represented by James Elmore and Jeff Page. The former educator was indicted by an Adams County grand jury for killing his 38-year-old wife, Cory, in February of 2006. Lovelace is expected to make his first appearance in court with his new counsel on October 9th for his arraignment hearing. He's being held on five-million dollars bond.
