Youth Coaches Push Too Hard

(Detroit, MI) -- When a coach tells young athletes to push too hard, that coach could be leading the child toward an injury. Paul Lubanski, a youth hockey coach says that if a child tries to do something they are not built to do, that's how they get hurt. He says the coaches need to be trained better to recognize and injury and learn how to address an injury better. Most important, though, is how a coach interacts with the children on a day-to-day basis. He says he would love it if before each game the coaches and refs got together and agreed to treat each child as though he or she was their own.
