Recovery Month Helps Those With Mental Illness, Drug Addictions
(Springfield, IL) -- It's "Recovery Month" in Illinois, which means people who are suffering with mental illness or drug addiction are being encouraged to reach out for help. Human Services Spokeswoman Januari Smith says the first step is always hardest, but the state has resources to aid in success. Smith says nearly 80-thousand people took advantage of the state's funding for substance abuse treatment last year. About 140-thousand people got help for mental health services. People can go to their local DHS office or their personal doctors to reach out for assistance. More details are available at RecoveryMonth.gov.
