Warm and Wet Week For Crops In Illinois

(Undated) -- It was a warm, wet week for Illinois crops. Temps were about four degrees above average last week, and some localized flooding was seen. That puts average statewide topsoil moisture at two percent very short, 13 percent short, 76 percent adequate and nine percent surplus. State Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener says 93-percent of corn is in the dough stage and 48-percent is in the dent stage. 58-percent of sorghum is turning color and 92 percent of oats have been harvested. The third cutting of alfalfa hay is now 67-percent complete.
