(Springfield, IL) -- State Fair organizers say rainy weather is to blame for a drop in attendance this year. Attendance was down 11 percent, but fair manager Amy Bliefnick says they had rain on eight of the 11 days of the fair. They had to cancel seven events this year, including the parade on the opening day of the fair. This year's fair drew 847-thousand people. That's down from last year's record of 961-thousand, but Bliefnick says attendance is up from three years ago.
