Galesburg Teachers Are Staging A Walkout

(Galesburg, IL) -- Galesburg teachers are on strike. The Galesburg Education Association voted Tuesday to turn down the contract offer from the school district. The union says the offer doesn't address safe working conditions for teachers and students. Union chief negotiator Luan Statham isn't confident that a resolution will be worked out before the start of school on Thursday. Meanwhile, School Board Superintendent Bart Arthur believes they made a fair offer.
