Two Canton Women Arrested On Theft Charges (Canton, IL) -- Two people from Canton are facing drug charges after being arrested over the weekend. Canton police say they were dispatched to the Siesta Motel located in the 900 block of West Locust Street Saturday afternoon at about 3 on the report of the office door being open. When the office worker arrived at the motel, she found that the office door was open and then contacted police. Officers located several items from the office in one of the motel's rooms. Police then arrested 43-year old Tonya L. Davis on charges of theft under $500. She was given a notice to appear on a theft charge and released. Davis has an August Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Also arrested was 43-year old Wendy L. Jones. She was also arrested on a theft under $500 charge. Police also found a pipe used to smoke marijuana and she was in possession of under 2.5 grams of pot. Officers also found her in possession of miscellaneous jewelry items. She was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Deaprtment to be processed on the charges of theft under $500, possession of cannabis under 2.5 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jones was given a notice to appear and then released after being given an August Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Canton Man Arrested For Refusing To Leave Store (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man was arrested following an incident at a business located on North 5th Avenue. Police say they were dispatched to Casey's General Store Saturday morning at about 2:40 in regard to a male that was refusing to leave the business after being told to do so. Management told police that 31-year old Brian E. Thurman had been previously told to stay off the property, however he returned Saturday morning. Police say Thurman was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed on a charge of trespass to property. Thurman was given a notice to appear and then released with an August Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Canton Man Arrested Following Traffic Stop (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing charges after he allegedly failed to signal at two different intersections last week. Police say they stopped a vehicle being driven by 45-year old Doyle L. Hutton after he allegedly failed to signal at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Ash Street and then again at the intersection of Ash and 6th Avenue. Police conducted the traffic stop in the 800 block of North 6th AVenue. Officers say they detected an odor of alchol coming from the vehicle and had Hutton perform several field sobriety tests which he allegedly failed. He was then arrested on a DUI charge and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. He was charged additional with DUI over .08. Hutton posted his driver's license and a $100 cash bond as well as a $20 processing fee. He was given an August Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Two Hanna City Residents Turn Self In (Canton, IL) -- Two Hanna City residents wanted on boddy attachement warrants were turned themselves in to authorities in Canton last week. Police say that on Friday morning, 25-year old Jesse T. Whetstine and 32-year old Stacy N. Werry entered the Canton Police Department where they turned themselves in on 2014 Body Attachement Warrants for small claims contempt of court. Whetstine and Werry each posted $100 cash bonds and $20 processing fees and were released. Both have August Fulton County Court dates in Lewistown.
