Parents Reminded To Keep Close Watch On Kids Near Water
(Springfield, IL) -- State officials are reminding parents to keep a close watch on their kids when they're near a pool or body of water. DCFS Spokeswoman Jenny Florent says all it takes is a few inches of water for a kid to drown, especially younger ones. Florent says kids should never be left unattended in a pool or bathtub, not even for a few minutes. She says it's OK to put water wings or other floatation devices on kids when they're in the pool, but parents should not rely on them to keep a kid from drowning.
