IDOT Secretary Quits After Potential Scandal

(Springfield, IL) -- A potential scandal is forcing yet another state official out of a job. IDOT Secretary Ann Schneider called it quits yesterday. She's stepping down just weeks after news broke that her stepdaughter had been promoted to a staff assistant position back in 2007, without following proper procedures. Schneider's stepdaughter recently told a watchdog group that the paperwork for the promotion just showed up on her desk one day. IDOT officials have said that Schneider didn't help her stepdaughter get either of her jobs within the agency.
