Governor Signs Law To Make Sure More State Grant Money Goes To Very Early Education

(Undated) -- Governor Pat Quinn is signing a new law to make sure more money goes towards very early education in Fulton County and the rest of the state. The legislation steers more money from the state's Early Education Block Grant Program towards the state's youngest learners, age zero to three. Governor Quinn says it's important that all kids get off to a good start. Current law requires 11 percent of that money to go to very early childhood education, but this new Bill raises that to 14-percent this year, and 20-percent the following year.
