Madigan Warns Of Email Scam

(Springfield, IL) -- Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is warning the public that emails claiming to be from her office and threatening prosecution for outstanding debts are a scam. The messages appear to be sent by someone in Madigan's office and contain a letter with an official-looking seal and the words "final warning." Madigan says the scam seems to be targeting people who have applied for loans online and have provided personal information to companies that sell it to lenders or fraudsters.
