ER Treatments For Xanax Abuse Rising
(Undated) -- More Americans are being rushed to hospital emergency rooms after abusing a widely prescribed drug for depression. Federal substance abuse regulators say ER treatments for people abusing the sedative Xanax have more than doubled in less than ten years. Xanax is frequently used to treat depression and anxiety. When taken with other prescription drugs or alcohol, it can be dangerous, causing lowered breathing and heart rate and leading to unconsciousness.
