Canton Grad Remembered At Tuesday’s Softball Game

(Canton, IL) -- An emotional but powerful ceremony took place prior to Tuesday’s Canton softball game, labeled as the “Regina Fountain Clark Honor Game”. The 1980 Canton grad was killed by a suicide bomber when attacked in Fallujah, Iraq in June of 2005. Regina was 43 and a Naval Reservist serving her country. The ceremony was led by Brigadier General Roy S. Webb, Assistant Adjutant General – Army – Iowa National Guard and is the Superintendent of the Canton Union School District #66. Webb echoed Regina Fountain Clark’s qualities of her strengths as a woman whose dedication was in serving her country. And he said the constant message families deal with in loss in time of war, “Never Forget, Never Forget”. Also on hand for the ceremony were the Color Guard by the Canton VFW and the Canton American Legion. Recognized during the ceremony for their leadership on their respective teams were Kaleigh McAllister of Canton and Kelsi Dahms of Morton. Morton went on to win the game over Canton 1-0.
