(Washington, D.C.)  --  Congresswoman Cheri Bustos of the 17th Congressional District in Illinois has invited high school students from across the Congressional District to submit their original artwork for the annual Congressional Art Competition, "An Artistic Discovery".  Bustos says that she highly encourages high school students to participate in this year's art competition.  She added that there are so many talented young artists across the region and this is a tremendous opportunity for their work to be displayed for thousands of people to see.  The Congressional Art Competition was first held in 1982 and is a nationwide high school arts competition sponsored by the House of Representatives.  The submission deadline is April 22, 2013 and the winner will be chosen on May 1, 2013.  There is a limit of one submission per student.  For full details on the 2013 Art Competition, including more detailed information on how to enter, visit Bustos' website www.bustos.house.gove/art-competition.
